The White Trilogy:
Three Novels by Ken Bruen
by Ken Bruen
These days Ken Bruen is universally hailed as “the hardboiled master of Irish noir,” but even in the early years he was unbelievably cool. I remember walking with Ken through the lobby of the Bouchercon hotel in Chicago at the mystery writers’ convention in 2005. It was like trying to walk through an airport with Bono, stopping every three feet to gladhand and receive the blessings of the faithful. Ken’s work is dark, and tearing, and vital; curse and benediction inhabiting the same sentence like Saturday night and Sunday morning.
